About rutabaga:

Rutabaga Toy Library is a vibrant community hub where sustainability and play come together! We offer a toy lending service, birthday parties, and nature-based programming for children and families. Our birthday parties are fun, engaging, and designed to minimize waste while maximizing joy.

KEY Responsibilities:

  • Host fun, interactive, and eco-friendly birthday parties for children and their families.

  • Lead engaging kids’ activities, such as themed games and crafts.

  • Set up and clean up party spaces, ensuring a tidy and welcoming environment.

  • Provide outstanding customer service to families during parties.

  • Support eco-friendly party practices by managing materials and reducing waste.

  • Work collaboratively with our small, caring team to enhance the party experience.

Desired skills & qualifications:

  • Has experience working with children and families (such as in childcare, teaching, or event hosting).

  • Is available to work Sundays and some Saturdays, with a flexible, variable schedule (approximately 25 hours per month).

  • Can confidently facilitate kids’ activities and keep energy levels high.

  • Is friendly, reliable, and organized, with strong communication skills.

  • Cares about sustainability and eco-conscious celebrations.

  • Is able to lift up to 40 lbs and keep up with an active, playful environment.

Employment Details:

  • Schedule: Sundays and some Saturdays, approximately 25 hours per month (variable).

  • Pay: $15-18 per hour, based on experience.

  • Start Date: ASAP! we’re looking for someone to jump in and hit the ground running!

  • Location: Rutabaga Toy Library (in-person role).
