Event Coordinator
ROLE:
As an intricate member of the small-yet-mighty Rutabaga Team, your passion for eco-conscious living will drive your contributions to the development and growth of the business. Rutabaga’s Event Coordinator has the unique opportunity to cater to the needs of our customers with sustainable and community-focused solutions by enhancing our current Eco-Party offerings and taking the lead on getting new ideas off the ground.
This position, like all positions at Rutabaga, requires flexibility, versatility, and strong communication skills. Because we’re a small team, all employees are expected to be capable of stepping into a variety of roles including Library Assistant and Camp Counselor. Like with all roles, a well-performing Event Coordinator will help the company scale and create new opportunities for themselves to grow with us.
Responsibilities
PRIMARY [PARTIES & EVENTS]:
Manage Birthday Parties
Provide structure, efficiencies, and consistency with our current offerings
Maintain all customer communications, invoicing, and scheduling
Ensure customer satisfaction during all steps of the process
Manage all party resources, supplies, and staffing
Responsible for all cleanup and care of the space before, during, and after parties
Implement additional party offerings (park & house parties, kit rentals, etc)
Other Event Offerings
Expand on current offerings during our open hours (game night, storytime, meetups)
Enhance and promote private rental of our space for professionals (child/family therapy, lessons, business team building, field trips, etc)
Develop new offerings that are inline with our mission and help grow the business
Responsibilities
SECONDARY [LIBRARY & CAMPS]:
Toy Library Support – All team members will learn to manage the library independently as members visit to exchange toys and play during open hours.
Engage in positive customer experiences – helping with toy selection, toy check-ins and check-outs, model cleanup habits
Maintain desk duties – sales, answering emails + phone calls, and restocking supplies
Answer customer questions & provide info regarding pricing, services, and events
Maintain cleanliness + organization of our space, includes but not limited to playspace, bathrooms, & outdoor area
Nature Arts Camp Counselor – All team members may step in as camp counselors if needed.
Supervise a small group of children during outting and inside play
Maintain a safe environment for the children at all times
Model respect + kindness, hold similar expectations of all staff + campers
Effectively communicate to parents and caregivers at drop off + pickup
Mitigate mess that would affect the toy library + maintain tidy space
REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrates a kind and friendly personality
Commitment to creating a warm and positive environment
Comfortable working in a busy & noisy environment
Shows strong attention to detail with a simultaneous eye towards customers
Ability to engage effortlessly and build relationships with children & caregivers
Environmental resourcefulness during planning and execution of activities
Passion for low-waste lifestyle and able to express, share, and teach
Available on weekends and some evenings.
State and Federal background clearances required (obtain after hire)
CPR and First Aid Certified preferred
Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs
RATE & benefits:
RATE & PAYROLL
Event Coordinator – $15-16/hr
Paid Time Off is accumulated at 1 hr per 30 hours worked
Standard 45-day performance review and potential for pay raise
